January 2009 Newsletter

Happy New Year!

In this month's newsletter you will find:

First off, I hope you enjoyed our Holiday Greeting Video. Our project manager, Shayna, "elf 'd" our team and turned us into skinny dancing fools! Everyone who saw the video said they let out a big HO-HO-HO!! If you missed it, you have to see it; it's playing until 1/15/09 at:

The New Year is a time of personal and professional goal setting. I know that my team and I spent all last year mapping out our goals and the steps we want to take to achieve them. So 2009 promises to be a year of implementation and action!

Much like building a business, parenting is also most effective when it is goal-oriented. In The Parents Toolshop® book and classes we first identify our parenting goals. Then, we look at the long-term results of five different parenting styles and see that we have the best chance of achieving our goals by using a "balanced" parenting style. Then we look at the "Universal Blueprint for Parenting Success," step by step. By using this unique decision-making formula and harnessing the power of its tools, we can see all our parenting options and choose the most effective response for accomplishing our goals, based on the unique personal circumstances of each situation.

I have a great exercise for you, especially if you've not done it before. Write down a vision of how you want your personal, professional and parenting life to be. Rather than a making a wish list, try to write it as though these things have already happened in your life. Think big! Write your vision as though it could be anything you want it to be.

The next step is to extract actionable goals from your written vision. This part can be difficult, and if you would like some help with this, my featured article this month will tell you how to set and achieve any goal. The link can be found later in this newsletter, and I hope you check it out!

Parents Tool Talk Radio

Last month while I was in Mexico, my producer Chris aired a pre-recorded teleseminar on "Holiday Parenting Issues." I hope you had a chance to listen to it, and if you did, I hope you found the content informative and empowering! You can listen to this and all our other previous shows at the Parents Tool Talk home page: www.parentstooltalk.com

Join us this month, on Friday January 9th, at noon Eastern time, for the never-before-aired pilot episode of Parents Tool Talk, in which Chris (the producer) was the host and I was the guest! Chris asked me all kinds of interesting - and unanticipated - questions about myself, how I developed the Universal Blueprint and founded Parents Toolshop Consulting. Some members of our "Dream Team" also asked questions. I hope you can tune in!

To listen to the show live, or to listen later by download or RSS feed, go to:
www.parentstooltalk.com

We will send a reminder about Friday's show by email later this week to the teleseminar/radio show mailing list. It includes specific instructions for all the ways you can listen and participate, live or later. Being on this list also entitles you to receive pre- and post-show resources exclusive for the people on this list. If you are not on this list and want to receive these reminders and bonus gifts, just sign up at:
