Parents Toolshop® Newsletter January 2010
"New Year's Resolutions"

In this month's newsletter you'll find:

Since a New Year is beginning and you may have set new resolutions and goals for improving your life, I want to remind you that I am here to support you with many programs and resources already available and only a mouse click away.

If you have set resolutions to be a better parent, get my book, The Parent's Toolshop or attend a live TIPS (Tools for Improving Parenting Success) workshop in your area. (See below) There, you will discover practical skills for:

  • Being able to quickly problem-solve any parenting challenge in seconds.
  • Getting your children to cooperate the first time you ask.
  • Motivating children without bribes or power struggles.
  • Nurturing your child’s (and your own) Self-Esteem, without fostering self-centeredness.
  • Keeping your cool and helping your children calm down.
  • Understanding why children misbehave and how to respond, without escalating the problem or giving a payoff.
  • Knowing how to discipline without being wishy-washy or “the bad guy.”

Want to nix some of the more frustrating parenting challenges you experience, such as lying, back talk, chores/cleaning, morning delays, bedtime hassles, tantrums, picky eaters, sibling squabbles, school issues, and holiday issues such as shopping with or for children and being around difficult people? If so, the most comprehensive resource is the Parents Toolshop® Teleseminar Series. The results parents get are phenomenal!

Before you hit the ground running in 2010, take some time to check out the Parents Toolshop Web Site where there are a ton of freebie resources, such as:

  • Articles on common parenting topics and challenges. Feel free to print and share them! Many have additional freebie reports you can get.
  • Subscribe to the Parents Tool Talk Mailing List so you know the topics we discuss or to download past shows.

If you live in the Dayton/Cincinnati area and have set more personal goals, such as...

  • Knowing how to reduce or even eliminate stress.
  • How to be free of phobias.
  • Managing your active schedule with calm and ease.
  • Achieving any goal you have set.

...then attend the Inner Secrets of a Stress Free Life workshop series. See below for details.

I welcome the opportunity to serve you and your family so you all can effortlessly reach your goals for this New Year.

This Month on Parents Tool Talk Radio:
"Talking To Kids About Sex"

This month on the Parents Tool Talk Radio Show, we will offer real-world advice on how to discuss sex, love and relationships with children. This advice will include the "who," "what," and "when" of talking to kids about sex, and answering some of the most common questions parents have about sexuality and their children.

Our special guest expert is Amy Lang, MA. Amy has been a sexual health educator for more then 20 years. A parent herself, she founded Birds+Bees+Kids, LLC to help other parents and caretakers become comfortable and confident when talking about sexuality, love and relationships with children. She is the author of the "Mom's Choice Award" winning book, Birds + Bees + YOUR Kids: A Guide to Sharing Your Beliefs About Sexuality, Love, and Relationships.

Some of the topics we will discuss include:

  • How and when to start talking about sex.
  • What to cover at different ages.
  • Who should do the talking (moms, dads, etc.)
  • Getting over discomfort.
  • Questions about masturbation and nakedness.
  • How to get teens to wait to have sex.
  • And as always, your questions!
