Parents Toolshop® Newsletter July 2010
"Important Vote Count Message"

In this newsletter:
As we head into July, we have less than one week left in the Oprah video audition voting campaign. Thank you for all your support, encouragement, votes and spreading the word. If you can just give a final hoorah effort to crank out as many votes as possible before the midnight (PST), July 3rd deadline, I would really appreciate it. I want as high a vote count as possible to get the producer's attention on my video, to see and consider choosing me for a trip to the L.A. auditions. Do as much mindless marathon voting as you can and one final reminder to anyone you know who would support an edu-taining parenting program like I am proposing.
Since June was busier than I expected, with the Oprah video audition opportunity and resulting voting campaign, I'm intentionally making this a short newsletter. I also will not be emailing you as much this month to make up for all the emails I sent last month for the voting campaign. I truly appreciate your patience with those extra emails!
After the Fourth of July weekend, I will be shifting gears to writing the next Parents Toolshop book, a short version called the Parents Toolshop Handbook. I'll be getting away from the office for some uninterrupted writing time throughout the rest of the summer. (Unless Oprah calls, of course!) I hope you also will get a chance to get some much deserved time off to spend having fun with your family.
Oprah Audition Video: Are Your Votes Really Being Counted?
You may have heard about recent controversy surrounding the counting of votes for audition videos in the Oprah campaign. Some of my marathon voters, who have voted hundreds or even thousands of times, are suspicious whether their votes are all being counted.
If you have done any marathon voting and felt like your votes did not show up after more than half a day, you may be able to help rescue those votes! Here's what to do:
1 |
Write a short description of how you voted (for example, continuously for 2 hours, five minutes at a time for several days, 100 votes for every time you viewed, etc.) |
| 2. |
Figure out a reasonable, fair, and accurate estimate of the number of votes you made, along with the dates and approximate times. |
| 3. |
Send that information to: |
- Chris (who is keeping statistics on how many votes I've received and when) at support@parentstoolshop.com
- Submit a bug complaint the Oprah web site. Send an email to feedback@oprah.com with the same information as above, plus mention my full name (Jody Johnston Pawel) and that you were voting for my video.
- Post a comment at abc.com. "Good Morning America" recently ran a story about possible vote rigging. You will need to create an account to leave a post. Mention the same information as above, who you were voting for (Jody Johnston Pawel), and your concerns.
Thanks for helping us make sure that every vote for this valuable TV show idea gets counted!

Are you on Facebook? If so, please connect with me and other parents in our community by posting on our page. I'd especially appreciate your comments about the book, teleseminars, radio show, or parenting classes. Some of the emails and comments parents have made to me directly would be valuable to share in a post, to help other parents feel affirmed and supported. I also think it helps parents to hear recommendations from other parents or to hear your experiences. This is a great way to do that. Here's what to do:
- Go to the Parents Toolshop® Facebook Page.
- Log in to Facebook by entering your username and password at the top of the page.
- Click the "Become a Fan" button.
- Enter your comment in the box marked "What's on your mind?" and click the "Share" button.
