This extremely popular program would not be possible if not for the Chaplain who was able to coordinate the many factors that make a program a success: a comfortable, convenient location; free child care; and even a free lunch most days! He’s become an enthusiastic supporter and promoter of Parents Toolshop® programs.
In other PTC news: did you notice the trademark registration symbol next to Toolshop®? After a very long wait, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has approved Toolshop® and Universal Blueprint® as trademarks owned by PTC. I have received the final registration papers for Toolshop® and am waiting for Universal Blueprint®. Toolshop® Group Facilitator News Outstanding Group Facilitator of 2004 Congratulations to Iris Strunc, of Niceville, FL! Iris received the award due to her dedication to the S&P committee despite multiple personal challenges, including illnesses, major surgery and TWO hurricanes! We really want to acknowledge that kind of commitment. Thanks again Iris! You’re a real trooper! In 2005, three new Group Facilitators joined our team: J ean Muransky-Doran, PhD, is the Parenting Coordinator at the Federal Correctional Institution in Elkton, Ohio. Ms. Muransky-Doran teaches several parenting classes to the male inmates housed at the facility, including: Introduction to Parenting, FatherRead, and Being and Effective Father. She also is the coordinator for the Reading is Fundamental, Inc. Program.Leslie Foss is a parent educator in the Family Life Dept. at Everett Community College in Washington state. She also directs a low income preschool, providing parent education for the families in the school. With her professional partner, Joy Knight, she provides training in the community where she lives. Leslie also has a rich, interesting past, with experience as a certified mediator and as the District Court Judge in a rural Alaskan community. Joy Knight has been a parent educator with Everett Community College for 28 years. She teaches both adult learners and provider training programs for early childhood educators. Joy also directs a preschool and parenting program for income eligible families. Joy facilitates training programs throughout Western Washington in brain development of young children. Leslie and Joy also graciously opened their homes to Jody when she visited the Seattle area to give a presentation, which they arranged. Then they drove her five hours, over the icy mountains, to Spokane for the NWPE conference. One Probationary Group Facilitator will join our team soon: Anita Ruffin, B.A. has a wide variety of degrees and certifications, including public administration, law and criminal justice. She is also a certified grief counselor and hospice support person. Anita is the mother of twin girls and became a Group Facilitator to set a solid foundation for her own family and to offer support and education to others. In 2006, be ready to welcome our two newest GFs, who are both submitting their final video certification materials soon:
Once Selena comes on board, we can officially say we have instructors "worldwide"! 2005 was a year of phenomenal personal and professional growth for me! The first quarter, I was busy training parents and professionals locally, statewide and nationally:
In the Spring, I attended an intensive advanced product creation and marketing training program called the 90-Day Product Factory. Through it, I created NINE new parenting resources! (See the "Ambris News" section for details.) I also finally got the "big picture" about marketing and filled in the gaps of how to do some of the marketing tasks I’d been wanting to do. To my surprise and honor, I won "The Outstanding Leadership Award" out of the 140+ inter-disciplinary professionals from around the world participating in the 90-Day Product Factory program. As a result, I was invited to serve as a team leader for the Fall training, which I gladly accepted. I learned how to facilitate tele-seminars and web seminars, which I plan to offer my clients in 2006. I’d planned on spending the time between training programs applying all I’d learned, but a family crisis required my primary focus over the summer. In the Fall, I was asked by Tryon Media Group to serve as a media spokesperson for an international corporation. On one October morning, I did a back-to-back ten-station radio tour, from the comfort of my home office, on the subject of teen driving. The rest of the Fall was packed with speaking engagements and serving as a team leader for Product Factory, through which I started a whole new business under the Parents Toolshop Consulting, Ltd. umbrella: Integrity Marketing® for Service Professionals Who Are Turned On by Helping, Turned Off by Selling. These new training programs and resources teach honorable marketing methods that profoundly impact more people. Helping Professionals can do what they love and still prosper abundantly. (See the "Integrity Marketing" section for more details.) At the end of that training, I was ready to devote myself to applying all I’d learned to all my business lines and develop Integrity Marketing (IM) programs to train other helping professionals in the same skills. Then, I was invited to be a team leader for a brand-new training the Product Factory instructors created, called Traffic School. Web traffic is the one area I still felt overwhelmed and unskilled in tackling, so I accepted the opportunity. This training will keep me busy until March, 2006. I am taking a break from traveling and conference speaking in 2006 to devote myself to paid speaking opportunities, applying all I’ve learned in my advanced training classes, and developing resources for parents, parent educators and helping professionals worldwide.
I sincerely hope 2006 is a year of health, happiness and prosperity for you and your family, Jody Johnston Pawel, LSW, CFLE
