About Us :

Jody Johnston Pawel, a Licensed Social Worker, Certified Family Life Educator and second-generation parent educator provided parent-education programs in a home-based setting from 1986 through 1992. In 1993, she formed The Parent's Toolshop as her private consulting business to provide family life education programs to local sponsors who requested her services. Throughout this period, Pawel was researching, developing, and field testing her own parent education curriculum while her business showed consistently increasing success. She also developed The Parent's Toolshop Group Facilitator Training Program, to train and certify others to teach family life education programs based on her expertise and teachings.

In 1997, Pawel independently published her parent education book/curriculum through Ambris Publishing. One thousand copies were distributed to local and regional markets, to test the interest in the book. At this time, there were already more than a dozen "Group Facilitators" teaching Parent's Toolshop programs in Ohio and Pawel had several ongoing service contracts.

In 1998, Parent's Toolshop products and services gained the attention of parents and professionals throughout North America. To accommodate a national expansion, Pawel reclassified Parent's Toolshop Consulting as a Limited Liability Company in the State of Ohio, with Ambris Publishing as a subsidiary company.

By 2000, The Parent's Toolshop was in bookstores nationwide. Jody Pawel was traveling the country, training parents and family-service professionals in her highly practical and successful techniques--to use as parents, with parents, or to teach parents. Dozens of Tour Guides now provide Parent's Toolshop programs throughout the United States. National publications now regularly quote her advice and radio and television shows throughout North America regularly interview her on a variety of parenting topics.

The potential for worldwide use of Parent's Toolshop® products and services is very promising. Reviews of Pawel's book and presentations are consistently positive. Parents and professionals have encouraged Pawel to develop a wider variety of products, both in content and media type, and make them more accessible to the general public.

Each Parent's Toolshop representative shares the vision of bringing these unique and highly effective educational products and services to the attention of every person who is committed to quality parenting and harmonious relationships--at home, school, work, or in their community.
